Former Lake Worth area teen skates his way to X Games

Alex Sorgente is going to the X Games.

The former Lake Worth area teen placed fifth in the Men’s Skateboard Park Final in the qualifier in Boise Idaho this weekend.

Sorgente, 19, competed against 14 other skateboarders. The top six were invited to the Games, the extreme sports event that will be held July 13-16  in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings.

This will be the second Games for Sorgente. He finished fourth last year in Austin, Texas, in the men’s Skateboard Park competition.

Sorgente has been skateboarding since he was 6, saying he fell in love with the sport instantly.

“I remember growing up as a kid and watching the X Games every year and dreaming of participating in it,” he told The Palm Beach Post this past week.
