Can you hear me? Lake Worth eyeing upgraded, digital radios

digital-radiosLAKE WORTH — City Commisssioners at tonight’s meeting are scheduled to vote on the city’s electric utility department spending more than $195,00 for digital two-way radios.

The city said the department has been using old analog radios for more than 10 years. In October the city put together a radio committee, made up mostly of senior staff. The committee recommended upgrading the system.

The new system will be more reliable and efficient, the city said.

The electric, water and public service departments will pay for the radios, the city said.

The city plans to buy the radios from Radio One Communications Services Co.
