LAKE WORTH — During Monday night’s Candidate Forum, those running for City Commission were asked if Dixie Highway businesses have been underserved by the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency.
It was an interesting — and fair — question.
Maryann Polizzi, a consultant fundraiser, said they are and recommended sending out a community newsletter or putting something on social media about those businesess. She also expressed concern about crime in the area.
Commissioner Christopher McVoy said the CRA is in the process of conducting a marketing study to better determine which types of businesses work best on Dixie Highway. He also said there needs to be more parking and a way to reduce the numbers of speeders on that strip.
William Joseph, a private investigator, said the CRA should be doing more while Omari Hardy, a civics teacher at Roosevelt Middle School said he understands how those business owners feel.
