Why now’s the time to return overdue library books in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH — We’ve all been there one time or another.

We check out a library book. Read it, or maybe not. Then we toss the book somewhere and forget it’s there as overdue fees pile up.

Sound familiar?

It does to city officials.

That’s why the Lake Worth Library is offering a one-time-only Fine Forgiveness Program in celebration of the library’s 75th anniversary.

The program starts Saturday and runs through Oct. 31.

So, look for those books, DVDs, audio books you borrowed, but never returned and you won’t be charged a cent. If fines are on a user’s account from previously returned items, those fines too will be forgiven if users visit the library and update their mailing address.

But, keep in mind, you will be charged for books that were lost and not returned.
