Lake Worth raising the curtain on new solar energy farm

solar-energy-panels-2LAKE WORTH — On Oct. 11, the city plans to unveil its Solar Energy Project.

The project has taken a 63-acre landfill that was an environmental eyesore and turned it into a producing solar energy field.

The city said the solar panels will generate enough clean energy to power more than 250 homes and reduce carbon emissions by four million pounds — the equivalent of taking 400 cars off the road.

Lake Worth said it’s only the third Florida city to build a solar farm. The unveiling is scheduled for 2 p.m., 1200 Washington Avenue.
