This Thursday, June 16, there will be “An Evening to Remember,” a memoriam for well known local musician and reporter Jason Budjinski.
The event, which is on the anniversary of his passing, will feature music, memories, laughter, love and much more. It will take place at Little Munich, 806 Lake Ave, Lake Worth from 7 to 9 p.m.
Donations will also be collected for the PSC Partners Seeking a Cure charity, which seeks to find a cure for the disease primary sclerosing cholangitis, from which Budjinski suffered.
Budjinski was known in the South Florida music scene for performing in many bands as well as writing about it. He worked for the Broward-Palm Beach New Times as their music editor and the Town-Crier newspaper, which covers the western communities, as community editor.
“We held a celebration of life last year, and want to reconnect with friends,” Jason’s mother, Maureen Budjinski recently said in comments to the Town-Crier.
He spoke openly about his health issues, in 2014 he wrote an opinion piece for The Palm Beach Post about the importance of universal healthcare, especially for young people who think they’ll never need it, offering his own experience as an example.
Budjinski, who was also known as Billy Boloby by friends, died on June 16, 2015 from complications from primary sclerosing cholangitis, or PCS, an autoimmune disease that effects the bile ducts and can lead to liver failure. He also suffered from Crohn’s disease. He was 38.
For those who can’t attend the event, donations in memory of Jason can be sent to: PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, 6900 E. Belleview Ave., Suite 202, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 or made online at pscpartners.org.
