How to read 1,000 books to your kids before kindergarten

Parents reading to their childrenLAKE WORTH — The 1,000 Books Before Kindegarten program is scheduled to have a parent training session on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church, 2101 6th Avenue South.

The  program challenges parents and caregivers to read 1,000 books to their newborns, infants and toddlers before kindergarten.

By reading just one book a night, the nonprofit says families can reach the 1,000 book goal in three years to give their children essential early literacy skills.
Research shows the most reliable predictor of school success is being read to during early childhood. And sharing books with children promotes a lifelong love of books and reading.
